U.S.S. CONSTELLATION ASSOCIATION HISTORY Richard Romeo and about 53 other shipmates founded the association in March 1993 during a plank owner cruise aboard Constellation from Philadelphia Navy Yard to Mayport, Florida. This cruise commenced at the completion of a $800 million, three year SLEP (Service Life Extension Program) intended to extend the operational life of the USS Constellation. The USS Constellation was decommissioned August 7, 2003 at NAS North Island, Coronado, CA. The USS Ronald Reagan CVN-76 replaced Constellation in the Pacific Fleet and arrived in San Diego in mid 2004. |
